To provide a community Coffee Shop serving high quality food & drink. To provide a much needed meeting place for people of all ages and needs where community groups can meet and new ideas can flourish. To provide good quality seasonal fruit & vegetables through the support of community growing projects. To support other local growers and producers in our community and to provide a marketplace for them in the village. To promote local shopping and complement our existing retailers. To benefit the local food economy, our local community and the environment. To kick start a renaissance in Meltham and provide a hub for further community development.

Have you ever found yourself thinking ‘what would make Meltham a better place to live?’

It’s time to change the way that we look at our community — we don’t have to look on from the sidelines — we can become actively involved in

making Meltham the best that it can be. 

It is also time to change the way that we shop — to support our local producers, reduce air miles and to take a more environmentally aware approach

to daily life.

With your help we would like to open a community coffee shop followed by a community shop in the heart of Meltham.  It will be a co-operative society owned and run by the townspeople of Meltham with startup capital raised by selling shares — giving everyone an equal say in the shop’s direction and a stake in its success.

 

We’ve seen what community action can achieve in towns such as Slaithwaite and Marsden.  Now it’s Meltham’s turn!
